Finding aged White teas these days is challenging. Since the 2012 craze to start ageing White teas began, the prices for aged White tea have gone through the roof AND a lot of the material that you can find is not high enough quality. In other words, if the tea is good and was aged intentionally then it will generally be crazy expensive. If the tea has been aged because nobody wanted it when it was fresh then it's unlikely to make a good aged tea.
So, we are bringing a NEW White tea series for you - Simple Dreams.
The idea is to find more attractively priced and delicious fresh or semi-aged tea cakes (before the boosted price tags) which are spectacular to drink now AND will age into a stellar tea for your collection. Our advice would be to buy a tong or a few cakes if you can - this limited edition tea will become more valuable as the cakes age and will become even richer and stronger in effects.
But let's not ignore the deliciousness that awaits you when you dive into this tea immediately. This is a 2018 tea so it already has some years of ageing under its belt. It tastes, however, it tastes much older - rich in fermented plum wines and cooked fruits and indulgent in its marzipan and butter biscuit richness. You will want to keep cracking into this one I guarantee it.
Oh and this is already a pretty potent tea with a happy, drunken body sensation - I can only imagine (with delight) how this will get stronger over time.
Ageing this tea will bring extra treasure to your tea collection. You don't have to do much to age this tea further. Put it in an airtight container if you can and throw in a humidity control pack (like Boveda) if you want to optimise ageing. I recommend a humidity of around 60-65%.
