    Smooth and fruity.

Young Gushu is our premium series of Gushu Raw PuErh which has been sourced to enjoy young. Although they will no doubt age spectacularly, teas which we select to be called a 'Young Gushu' have to be super enjoyable, easy drinkers from the first year with a potent tea high!

This year we had our eye on a Jing Mai tea and we were about to pull the trigger when this beauty from Baka was picked up by one of our scouts in Yunnan. One taste and we proclaimed it our Young Gushu 2019.

Young Gushu 2019 is made from ancient tea tree material, estimated at just under 500 years old but we are conservatively estimating 300-500 especially since these are new suppliers. It is definitely a Gushu and the taste is sublime - moving from butterscotch and banana creaminess all the way to apples, jasmine and orange brightness. The aftertaste is very long lasting with a sweet orange aroma staying in the mouth for hours.

Baka is further North-East than our other Young Gushu teas, in the area of Lincang which generally has brighter and punchier flavours than the rich funkiness of Bulang and Yiwu. We love Lincang and we are exploring more and more teas from this part of Yunnan.

The tea has a warm and clear energy which may get you nicely tea drunk without excessive wooziness. It is going to be our go-to Friday night session!
