A crazy fruit blast from the pickings of a single tree. This is the wild Wuyi taste of your dreams.
We have loved Candy Tree Black ever since we started sourcing this fruity Wuyi tea a few years ago. It has, on the one hand, such a sweet and candied fruit profile that it almost feel unnatural, and yet it carries a resinous and woodsy edge that makes it taste like a wild tea.
Well, this Supreme batch is turning all of the volume knobs to 11.
This Supreme batch was found while sampling our 2023 Candy Tree Black contenders and it immediately stood out as a ridiculously abundant tea, brmming with peach and pomelo candy aromatics.
I then found out that this tea has been harvested from a single 100-year-old tree growing in Wuyi simply known as 'Old Fir'. That explains the price but also the special experience of tasting this liquor.
Fruits hit your senses from tropical like guava and mangosteen through to peach and grapefruits - all jammy and sweet as if you have found the best hard candies ever!
These brimming fruity aromatics are backed up by a wild and resinous strength which ties beautifully into a lightly creamy yet lively Dondurma ice cream softness.
Aftertaste is long, cooling, sweet and zingy - the hallmark of old trees grown in perfect terroir. The smell of the empty cup is the perfume of late summer - the ripest of fruits and cream pudding all served up in the countryside surrounded by blossoming meadows.
We only have 5kg of this tea and it is very much special occasion brew - a reminder of nature's promise of abundance to get you through the colder winter months.
