A sophisticated yet quirky and edgy Gushu PuErh that dances on the tongue with all manner of crazy deliciousness. Bing Dao once again provides a winner! Made from estimated 200-250 year old trees.
This tea had us enthralled from the first sniff - it has a crazy mix of seemingly unrelated aromatics which somehow work beautifully together. Toffee and blackcurrants? Uni and yeasted waffle batter? Nori and orchids?
Drinking this PuErh is like eating at one of those experimental Michelin-star restaurants but where every dish is a hit (unlike most of those experiences). The flavours which, on paper, may seem to collide actually create harmonious unions which delight and surprise.
We seem to source a Bing Dao PuErh every year despite blind-tasting our teas to avoid biases. Yet each Bing Dao tea that we select has been different - a testament to the unique diversity and potency of this famed terroir. It may be expensive to source but there is something unmistakable about its quality, for while they possess a wide variety of aromatics, the mouth-feel is abundant with minerals and the Hui Gan (Returning sweetness) is pure class.
The Pernickety Pleasureseeker is a tea to savour and share with your most particular foodie friends - they may be pernickety but they have immaculate taste!
