Tea Tasting - To Slurp or Not to Slurp

You hear tasters slurp A LOT, but does this improve the flavour of tea?

Whenever I am surrounded by tea tasters I enjoy watching them slurp loudly. Even funnier (sorry) is watching teaheads trying to slurp and ending up nearly choking as they get a lung full of tea!
