A majestic return for the glorious Da Xua Shan (Big Snowy Mountain) which has produced a PuErh with the most addictive sweetness and potency.
Ever since our release of Calamansi Swooper back in 2020, we knew that Da Xue Shan was a mountain that could produce some very special tea with compelling character.
And yet it has taken us 4 years of tasting to find Lush Disciple - clearly, the mountain does not give up its jewels easily!
But we have continued to hunt for its treasures and we have been rewarded with a tea to effortlessly fall in love with at the very first sip.
This is a luxury ancient tree PuErh with inescapable appeal - sweet, thick and easy sipping similar to an Yiwu tea. But it also showcases the wild and jungly notes of a Bulang PuErh to add edge and grip to the experience.
Its balance is peerless - effortlessly straddling the line between gentle and bold, floral and forest, smooth and zesty, soft and mineral.
To be frank, I am baffled by how it achieves such contrast in the cup and yet tastes so elementary and natural. It is the equivalent of a couple who are seemingly so different and yet gel together so harmoniously.
Lush Disciple does not hold back on intensity either.
The florallity is narcotic and mesmerising with tropical jungle abundance. The fruity punch of jujube and pomelo is audacious and assertive. The minerality is bright and assured, leaving your mouth buzzing with a zesty tingle and everlasting sweetness.
And all of this intensity and contrast is wrapped up in a liquor which is magnificently quaffable - a session of Lush Disciple seems to pass by in a flash of enthusiastic sipping.
Finally, the body sensation is another testament to Lush Disciple's unique character. It is calming and centred while bringing some soaring thrills and euphoria.
Lush Disciple is a PuErh of our dreams. I cannot stress enough that this is a tea which you will drink through very quickly. Be bold like the tea and get a Tong - your future self will thank you.
