This is an ADULT Royal Peach Orchid Oolong with complex top notes, thick minerality and a dry bittersweet finish. It is a tea-aficionados tea in my opinion.
All Mi Lan Xiang Dan Congs (this type of tea) should be bursting with fruits, honey and flowers but often times they either lack that mineral crunch and dry, quenching finish that we adore, or they are way over the top with uncontrolled bitterness. This is our own blend of two Dan Congs which represents our perfect balance of tastes and textures.
The more I get into tea, the more I crave a rich and exciting mouthfeel which lasts long after drinking. So many top-shelf Dan Congs are produced to have as much fragrance as possible but their mouthfeel is sacrificed in the process. Lower quality Dan Congs tend to be all woody and dry without enough fragrance. So, finding a high quality, intensely aromatic tea which has a shaped and measured yet bold mouthfeel is not so simple.
When tasting Dan Cong samples last year I found these two Oolongs made by different farmers. They are both highest quality Wudong tea and would compete with the best Dan Congs individually. One was fabulous for its high and complex aromatics of peach, orchids and sour cherries and the other had the most sublimely quenching mineral mouthfeel and long honeyed aroma. So we decided to mix them and the result is a perfect example of what I look for in a Mi Lan Xiang Dan Cong. Uncompromising in taste and texture with remarkable poise and simplicity.
