I absolutely love this pot!!! Elegant. Perfect size. Fast pour. Beautifully crafted. I love the pure taste of the tea from the silver. The tea feels soft and silky. Next level experience of tea wear.

A remarkable 120ml pot, handmade in Xianju Zhejiang from 999 pure silver sheets hammered around a copper layer shell. ONLY 17 IN STOCK.

This Kyusu or side-handled pot is made by sandwiching two sheets of pure silver around one sheet of pure copper core.

This technique has a few advantages over solid silver:

  1. Both metals have excellent heat conductivity for even heating of the tea, but copper has a higher specific heat capacity meaning that this pot will have better heat retention than a pure silver pot.
  2. Copper is very malleable, allowing more intricate shapes and surface texture from hammering.
  3. Silver exterior and interior allows the benefits and aesthetic of silver pots but the addition of the copper layer reduces the cost while providing the above advantages.

The pot is finished with a cool-to-the-touch hardwood handle and knob which offsets the silver fabulously.

The lid has  a unique 'lip' to prevent it from falling even if you turn the pot upside-down.

The pour is fast through an ornate silver ball filter.

It is impossible to break this pot and as long as you take a little care with it you can pass this pot on for generations!

The pot is supplied with a Jade cylindrical lid holder.

BREWING IN SILVER

Silver is neutral so does not change the flavour or texture of a tea like clay teaware. Silver is therefore, like porcelain, a great way to taste the pure flavour of a tea without any shaping.

However due to its high thermal conductivity and retention silver brews very efficiently meaing that you can get rich extractions in shorter infusions.

This makes silver great for brewing tea which have strong yet transient aromatics like Oolongs. Essentially silver brings out the brightest and purest extraction of a tea.

Many people talk about the 'purifying' nature of silver and it is true that silver has antibacterial qualities but you are using properly filtered water anyway right?

Silver is cerainly resistant to mold, rust, oxidation and is easy to clean. It is a material which lasts generations so consider this pot a future heirloom.

MY EXPERIENCE WITH THIS POT

The fast heating, excellent retention and neutral effect on taste means that this pot is the best way to get rich, bright, clean and pure tasting tea with vibrant aromatics.

It is excellent for brewing all types of tea just like porcelain but with the added richness and transient aromatics that comes from quick and consistent brewing temperatures.

Silver is like the Ferrari of teaware - it is a lot more expensive than the porcelain alternatives but it looks amazing and gives you a supercharged tea experience.

PLEASE NOTE BEFORE PURCHASING

As these pots are made with 999 pure silver they will naturally tarnish like all silver. They may arrive with small tarnishes. Any silver tarnishes can be reduced by scrubbing with water and baking soda using a toothbrush or cloth.
