A very special Gaiwan for any collection. Handmade from Ruyao porcelain and finished by artists with DaQi lacuer and pearl. Approx 130ml.
PLEASE NOTE THE PICTURES ARE SLIGHTLY INACCURATE AS THE NEW BATCH HAS A BLACK UNDERSIDE TO THE SAUCER.

This is one of the most spectacular Gaiwans in my collection which can be admired for hours.Fully handmade in Taiwan by award-winning porcelain masters Lin Defeng and Guo Zhihao, reviving Song dynasty Ru Yao techniques.
Made from a traditional grey-blue Ru Yao porcelain which will develop a tea craquelure pattern over time and wood-fired in Taiwan.

This 130ml Gaiwan is then adorned with Da Qi lacquer, a technique of unique cultural heritage. The lacquer is made from the sap of a tree which is coloured with pigments and applied to the porcelain in multiple layers. The lacquer hardens and becomes glassy before being polished to finish. This is a very skilled and time-consuming process and creates one-off unique pieces.
In addition to this DaQi lacquer, the artists have inlaid mother-of-pearl to add even more lustre and iridescence to the Gaiwan.

They are truly a delight to the eyes and the touch and you could spend hours admiring their beauty.
We only have 9 of these Gaiwans available.
