Rounded and slightly squat Pomelo shape pot, half-handmade from Di Cao Qing clay. Approx 145ml
Di Cao Qing is a special type of Yixing Zini ore mined from the original Huang Long Shan mines 4 and 5.
This ore is usually found at the bottom of layers of Zini ore and can be identified by its 'chicken eyes' which are pale spots in the fired clay.
Our Pomelo pot shows a lighter-than-usual Zini colour with plenty of these pale spots.

Di Cao Qing clay is porous and will change in appearance over time with a seasoned patina.

The pot was fired at a lower temperature making it lighter in colour and even more porous It has a huge effect of softening and rounding tea.
This pot is particularly suited to Sheng and Shu PuErh as well as Yancha., but it is very versatile, working with most tea types.
The filter is 9 hole rhombus.

I personally prefer to use Zhuni for Oolongs, from Taiwanese 'Greener' Oolongs to Dancong Phoenix Oolongs and deep-roasted Yancha. The clay rounds out some of the edges of these teas but allows the fragrances to sing, unlike many other Yixing clay types.
This pot was crafted using a half-handmade technique. This means that the body of the pot was made by hand using molding tools, rather than machines. Afterwards, the lid, spout, and handle were finished by hand as well. In essence, the pot is indeed handmade, but it is classified as half-handmade because molds were utilized to shape certain parts.
