This is a 30g tin of Uji Hikari variety ceremonial grade matcha made from hand-picked tencha which has been shaded for about a month before picking. The shading on these leaves has gone up to 90% by using three covers to almost entirely block out the sun just before harvesting. This is next-level matcha with a smooth and creamy texture and taste - think white chocolate, creamy porridge and peanut butter

The leaves are stone-ground using granite mills in a small family run factory in Uji which has been making award-winning matcha for generations.

The cup colour is a vibrant rich green and the flavour is deep and creamy moving into a bright, lemony, cooling finish. Immaculate Matcha.

This is one for those really special matcha moments. Please be aware that we purchased the entire batch direct from the revered family of matcha makers of their top grade matcha, this tea is not available anywhere else worldwide.

Directions

For Usucha, we recommend using a teaspoon (or 2 Chashaku scoops) placed in a bowl or Chawan.for 60-70ml of cold or warm water (between 70 and 80 degrees). First, make a paste with a splash of warm water (between 70 and 80 degrees or 160-175F) with a Chasen whisk and then 50-60ml of warm water and whisk vigorously in a 'W' motion to make a smooth and frothy drink. Slurp and enjoy.

For Koicha (a much thicker and intense drink) you would use double the Matcha (2tsp or 4x Chashaku Scoops) with about 40ml of water and whisk slowly to make a smooth drink without froth.

We do not advise drinking before bed as it does contain caffeine.
