Full spectrum Sencha bringing fruits, creams and minerals to your cup. A wild body sensation to perk you up!
I love the terroir of Tenryu - wild, rugged and alpine.
Tenryu has radical fluctuations in temperature, fast draining steep slopes, high altitudes and fog (from the nearby river).
All of this contributes to tea that has to work hard and grow slow - the perfect way to make great tea.
So it is no surprise that Tenryu has transformed the ubiquitous Yabukita cultivar into this incredible Sencha.
Usually I am not a huge fan of Yabukita - it has lots of potency and vibrancy buit can be a little simple.
Jam Rock Sencha uses the punchy vivacity of the Yabukita but the Tenryu landscape has brought warmth and sweet jam fruitiness to the mix.
On the nose there is broth, cream and sweet mashed chestnuts.
In the mouth, the liquor is thicker than you average Yabuita and has bready delights of ring doughnuts, scones, cream and blueberyy jam.
But this all comes ith the signature freshness of Yabukita - mountain air and river rocks leading to a pushy physicality.
The finish is crisp and bright yet leaves you with a berry sweet aftertaste.
Get ready for the stimulation of Jam Rock Sencha - this tea will perk you up so don't drink in the evening (unless you are about to party).
