I have never tried a white tea with this much dark cocoa notes! It’s absolutely buzzing and bassy with a nutty date syrup flavour/mouthfeel and a super mineral finish. 7.5g is a knockout punchy sesh

A blissful blend of three aged White teas to craft our 8th in the legendary Jade Star series. Buddy and bright yet rich and indulgent with a feel-good body high.

Jade Star 8 is here and it is unlike any version which we have made before.

As with all of our JS series, this cake is made from a mix of aged Fuding Bai Mu Dan and Shou Mei. The blend gives a full spectrum White tea experience with the creamy, mineral and nutty Mu Dan playing alongside the fruits and ferments of Shou Mei. I also find that this combination provides the most complete tea-drunk high - energetic and lively yet deep and loose.

Finding top-quality loose, aged whites is not a simple affair and every year we wonder if there will be another Jade Star release. For this one, we blended two batches of Bai Mu Dan from different producers in Fuding. One batch is creamy and nutty while the other has a physical feeling with more stony minerality.

We then mixed the Bai Mu Dan batches with a stellar aged Shou Mei from the very birthplace of White tea - the revered fields of Panxi. This adds a punnet of stone fruit and lashings of rum ferments to the mix.

The blend was crafted in 2023 and pressed in early 2024 - the added steam and reduced oxygen of the cakes have dialled up the intensity of the tea to another level.

The liquor looks lighter than previous Jade Star's - a pale whisky gold. But don't let that fool you because this tea is rich in taste, texture and effects.

The bud-heavy nature of the blend gives a frangipane nutty and butteriness to the brew, while also adding cereals, minerals and suede.

The Panxi Shou Mei spreads a generous dollop of apricot jam over the aromatics and follows up with woodsy structure and a rum agricole finish.

The body sensation is a creeper - at first the tea seems quite mild but when you hit infusion 5 or 6 you suddenly find yourself in an altered state - smiling and buzzing with an all-body high which sets in and sticks around long after the last sip.

This Jade Star is a magical tea which is going to transform and become even more intense as it ages. Get a tong to enjoy this tea now and have some cakes for the years ahead - you know that your future self will thank you.
