Raw cacao but without the bitterness - more like dark chocolate covered raisins, giving way to more floral notes later in the session. Lovely tea.

Prepare for a Cocoa and Malt bomb! A spectacular Jin Jun Mei at a ridiculously affordable price point.

When I first tasted this Jin Jun Mei I was cooing and purring over its rich, deep character. It delivers a mouthful of malt and cocoa but then expands to include flourishes of red dates, cherries and rose which only a top-shelf Jin Jun Mei can offer. I needed to have this tea in my collection and I prepared myself for an eye-watering price tag (I always taste blind to price).

But, when I saw the price of this tea my jaw hit the floor and I did a little jiggle of joy. Surely, the Tong Mu producers had made a mistake?! To put this price in perspective, this tea is as affordable as a Yunnan Dianhong and about half to a third of the price of your average Jin Jun Mei. It is a fraction of the cost of the high-flying Jin Jun Mei's out there (most of which are lower quality than this one in my opinion).

This Jin Jun Mei is from the incredible Tong Mu village and consists of between 1000-1500 buds per 10g. It is kicked from the small leaf varieties growing in this area and each bud is hand-rolled making it a very laborious tea tea to produce.

Do yourself a favour - grab this opportunity to bless your shelves with a pinnacle-grade batch of one of the world's most expensive teas AT A BARGAIN price.
