This pot is a looker - original and stylish with its tall profile, metallic glaze, silver plated details and milk jug curves.
But it also has a little trick up its sleeve.
The inside is unglazed Kaolin (Gao Ling clay) which surprisingly has quite an effect on tea. Of course we all know about the other famous clays like Zisha and Zitao but I was surprised to experience the distinct softening and thickening effects of simple unglazed Kaolin.
The tall profile makes it perfect for strip tea although it will quite happily brew any shape. Its ball filter makes for a fast pour and suits well to all tea styles.
Silver plating on the top and the spout provides an expensive touch to the aesthetics and the curved handle provides a perfectly balanced feel in the hands.
A winning pot from Dehua - maybe there is new trend of unglazed Kaolin coming our way!
