Black forest gateau with black cherries and cream to the nose & ripe damson with vanilla custard shortbread taste. Relaxing vibes of holidays in the Cotswolds. This is going to be a crowd pleaser.

A worthy successor to the wildly popular Bling Rock Kingpin (our biggest selling tea of all time). Fermented Purple cultivar that is unlikely to be produced again - blueberry and orange candy with sweet brioche and fudge.

Amulet Majesty is the 3rd in our series of deeply fermented pickings from the purple sprouting Zi Juan cultivar in Yunnan. This cultivar is often used to make Black tea which is sweet and easy sipping but perhaps a little too soft for our tastes. When richly fermented, I feel that this variety comes to life in a vibrant and punchy way (whilst still retaining its easy-sipping character).

But the fermentation needs to be dark for all of this to work and, in recent years, we have been tasting samples of the Zi Juan ripened tea which have all been way too light in colour and flavour. What gives?

Apparently the local laws in Yunnan have changed so that fermentation beds need to be raised from the floor which necessarily means that the batches of tea tend to be smaller. Apparently this makes it harder to achieve a deep fermentation from this cultivar, hence why we have only been receiving very light tea.

So we had to dig a bit further into our network and we found this 2015 ripe Zi Juan which is perfection - we bought up the whole batch!

Amulet Majesty has all of the fruity character of the previous teas in this series but with added creaminess and a bready quality.

Imagine soft brioche or sweet buns studded with blueberries. There is also a deeper fudgy note and asian baked desserts stuffed with sugared red beans. A herbaceous brightness appears in the aftertaste with ints of more bracing fruits like blackcurrant, cranberry and rosehip - just enough to add some dimension but never too much to take you away from the indulgent sweetness of the brews.

This tea is so easy-drinking. The Zi Juan cultivar brings a light touch to a heavily fermented tea to make a top-shelf tea for your collection.

Body sensation is a bright and clear high perfect for getting on with the day or settling in to lively conversations.

If you have tried the previous Zi Juan teas then you know what joys you can expect and if not then jump in now to collect what may be the last of a glorious tea style.
