Vintage style Stem Liu Bao aged for 30 years.
A rich tapestry of Hei Cha aromatics but with an added brightness and soothing character.
One look at this tea and it raises eyebrows.
This vintage Lao Cha Geng Liu Bao is purposefully made of stems - a style I have not seen in more modern Liu Bao.
This gives the resulting brew a bright, light and gentle character while at the same time filling the mouth and nose with a gorgeously nuanced blend of Hei Cha goodness.
Picked in the mid 1990's, the tea has been stored in Guangxi. During these 30 years, the true taste and character of this tea has been focussed, intensified and allowed to sing.
Nuts, woods, polish and lacquer, herbal spices, and a load of sweet rock sugar and starchy comfort - all wrapped in an ever-present clean laundry aroma.
There is so much depth going on in the liquor and yet the experience is fresh, clean and soothing. I am shocked at the profound difference that this stem picking makes and a reminder that there is always something new to discover in tea.
