A TINY batch of the first pickings of the year Anji Bai Cha. This is top-of-the-pile Jade Arrow which rarely leaves the shores of China and is usually pre-purchased by a closed group of rich tea connoisseurs.
Anji Bai Cha is such a famous Chinese Green and highly revered as one of the best teas in the World, especially by Green tea aficionados. The problem with having such a BIG name is that the tea tends to have a big price tag and, in its relatively young history of 30 years, Anji Bai Cha has rapidly become one of the most expensive teas on the globe!
There are hundreds of different quality levels for Jade Arrow, depending on all of the usual factors such as season, origin and production methods. All of these teas, even the lower quality ones, will hike up the price simply because of this tea's reputation. This one is impeccable, balancing complexity, delicacy and sweetness.
Our Supreme selection is made from the Dong Shan Huang cultivar, picked super early and has the palest, milky green appearance that we have ever seen in all of our travels. White sprouting leaves are the reason why this tea is called 'Bai' Cha (white in Chinese) despite it being a Green tea, and this tea shows off the majesty of white coloured varieties perfectly.
When we found this tea we had to buy some up for our own collection - it is the first pickings of the year made in the heart of Anji and produced with very exacting processes. Like all great Anji Bai Cha, the taste is light, soft and pure yet has unmistakable sweet aromatics with gooseberries, strawberries and orchids.
We had to pay a high price to fight off the private Chinese buyers and we have secured a small amount to share with our Teahead friends worldwide.
